Point Fermin

Below the first Palos Verdes bench or terrace is the beginnings of another wavcut bench. Below we see the dark and resistant basalt.

The Point Fermin landslide was first noted in 1929. Following a heavy rainy season, major movement began in 1941. Today, we can observe the curved outline characteristic of a slump and note the slide of blocks. We're standing at the edge of a road which once connected to the other side. Pieces of the road's surface remain intact below. The LA harbor entrance is shown in the background of the right picture.
